Dataset description |
Vertical profiles of density of CO2, CO, H2O, HDO, HF, H35Cl, H37Cl, SO2 and aerosols in the Venus upper atmosphere at the terminator. Data retrieved from calibrated spectra obtained with the SPICAV-SOIR instrument on board the Venus Express spacecraft.
The retrieval method and the derived data is presented and analysed in several papers. See:
* https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pss.2015.02.002 for CO2 density and temperature,
* https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2015.08.012 for a summary,
* https://doi.org/10.1016/j.icarus.2016.02.025 for CO or Wilquet et al. (2012)
* https://doi.org/10.1016/j.icarus.2011.11.002 for the aerosols. |

The dataset is present in two formats: in HDF5 (see https://www.hdfgroup.org/solutions/hdf5) and in VOtables (see https://www.ivoa.net/documents/VOTable/). So the dataset is duplicated.
The data in each files are vertical profiles of density for the species which can be CO2, CO, H2O (H2O_1 for H2O except HDO, H2O_4 for HDO), HF, HCl (HCl_1 for H35Cl, HCl_2 for H37Cl), SO2 and aerosols (AERO). The files also contains the vertical profile of pressure "p" and temperature "t".
The density "n_", logarithm of the density "log_n_" and volume mixing ratio "vmr_" are provided for scale heights from 0.1 to 1.0 by step of 0.1. This scale height impacts the smoothing of the profiles.
The corresponding uncertainties on the vertical profiles are the variables starting with "err_"
The data concerning the geometry of the measurements: solar longitude, and local time, latitude, longitude corresponding to the profile are also provided in the same files.
