Dataset description

There is a new version of this data set (https://doi.org/10.18758/72q26unk) - please consider using it The data are vertical profiles of mineral dust aerosols from IASI (Metop-A and Metop-C) obtained with the Mineral Aerosol Profiling from Infrared Radiances (MAPIR) version 4.1 algorithm. The data available here is the level 2 data (at satellite pixel resolution).
Level 3 (gridded daily and monthly AM, PM and total) total column AOD and mean altitude are available through the Climate Data Store (https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu). Search for "dust", select "Aerosol properties gridded data from 1995 to present derived from satellite observations", in the download tab, select the sensor IASI on METOPA or METOPC and the MAPIR algorithm.
