SUVIM stations in Belgium

Since 2022, the measurements of ground-based solar UV-VIS irradiance are performed at four sites in Belgium.
The CSV resource contains the locations.

List of the BIRA-IASB instruments available on the stations:

  • Spectrometer - Only installed in Uccle/Ukkel:
    • Double monochromator for global solar spectral UV-VIS irradiance measurements
    • Spectral coverage: 280 nm to 500 nm. Time sampling: 15 minutes.
    • Spectral sampling: 0.5 nm. Spectral resolution: 0.58 nm

Available on all sites:

  • UVA pyranometer - Calibrated to provide:
    • Global solar UVA irradiance. Wavelength integration: 315-400 nm and 320-400 nm
    • Time sampling: 1 minute (or better: down to 3s)
  • UVB pyranometer - Calibrated to provide:
    • UV index measurements
    • Global solar UVB irradiance. Wavelength integration: 280-315 nm and 280-320 nm
    • Time sampling: 1 minute (or better: down to 3s)
  • Total Solar Pyranometer (TSP) - Calibrated to provide:
    • Global solar irradiance. Wavelength integration: 300 - ~2800 nm
    • Time sampling: 1 minute (or better: down to 3s)
  • Multi-channel filter radiometers (GUV-2511) manufactured by BIOSPHERICAL Inc - Global solar irradiance at the following wavelengths:
    • 305 nm, 313 nm, 320 nm, 340 nm, 380 nm and 395 nm,
    • as well as Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR - 400-700 nm)
    • Bandpass: typically 10 nm for UV channels
    • Side product: UV index obtained from a linear combination of UV channels
    • Time sampling: 1 minute
