2002-2022 monthly tropospheric ozone (anomaly)...
5° x 5° gridded monthly tropospheric ozone column (anomaly) time series (2002-2022), combining 13 harmonised satellite data records. This TOAR II combined satellite record provided the observational basis for Sections 6 and 7 of Hubert et al., 2026 (doi:10.1098/rsta.2025.0274). The combination algorithm is described in detail in Section 4.3 of the Supplementary Material (doi:10.6084/m9.figshare.c.8658250).
The netCDF file is CF-1.13 and ACDD-1.3 compliant and contains key variables
- troc (time, lat, lon) : tropospheric ozone column (DU)
- troc_unc (time, lat, lon) : uncertainty of tropospheric ozone column (DU)
- troc_anom (time, lat, lon) : relative deseasonalised anomaly tropospheric ozone column (unitless, -0.03 = 3%)
- troc_anom_unc (time, lat, lon) : uncertainty of relative deseasonalised anomaly tropospheric ozone column (unitless, -0.03 = 3%)
and ancillary variables
- troc_seasonal (month, lat, lon) : 2018-2022 mean tropospheric ozone column (DU)
- du_to_ppb (time, lat, lon) : multiply troc / troc_unc by this factor to obtain column-averaged dry-air mole fraction
- surface_pressure (time, lat, lon) : surface pressure (hPa)
- tropopause_pressure (time, lat, lon) : thermal tropopause pressure (hPa)
